Celebrate 2017 in new sound with the newest 360 Surround speakers from Samsung. Ditch those one-sided speakers that project sound in just 1 direction and be prepared to be immersed in 360 sound all around.
The Samsung WAM R1 Wireless speaker is nothing like what speakers are supposed to look like. Cylindrical, dark and sleek – almost an artwork in its own right to please your eyes and your ears. The WAM R1 would certainly feel at home in any modern household.
Controls can be accessed on the top, with just a blinking set of dots to indicate that it is turned on. You can access other controls via the Samsung Multi-Room app making it a truly wireless experience.
The speaker can connect via Bluetooth or through WiFi making it possible for multiple Samsung wireless speakers to connect to each other giving you a true surround sound experience.
The Samsung Multi-Room app can be downloaded via the Play Store or App Store and if you have a Spotify Premium account, you can take full advantage of the app.
These wireless 360 speakers are installed with patented Ring Radiator Technology that produces 360-degree omni-directional sound, giving you a perfectly balanced sound wherever you are in the room.
What We Love:
- compact design
- can connect via WiFi and Bluetooth
- loud omnidirectional sound
- can connect with other Samsung speakers for a daisychain
- intuitive tap and swipe functions
- no display on the speaker
- can only accommodate Spotify
- needs to have a Spotify Premium account

Your selfie-game is about to get even better as Vivo announces V5 with 20-megapixel Moonlight front-facing camera.
The V5 is an all-metal unibody smartphone that feels light and premium on the hand. The 5.5-inch display is vibrant and the size on the device feels manageable given my slightly smaller hand.
It does feel light and smaller, maybe this is because I’m used to fiddling with my iPhone 6 Plus. The smaller profile of the V5 is much more enjoyable and manageable for me.
The display is 1280×720 HD with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. Under the hood is an octa-core processor from MediaTek running at 1.5GHz with 4GB of RAM and a base storage of 32GB expandable via microSD up to 128GB.
For Perfect Selfies
The V5 is an innovation in itself because of its 20-megapixel selfie cam – definitely a first in the world of smartphones. The front cam is equipped with a Sony IMX376 camera sensor with an aperture of f/2.0. The front of the camera also has a flash and it is called their Selfie Softlight technology – it lets you shoot selfies with a soft and radiant lighting effect to capture details in low light.
The rear camera has a 13-megapixel sensor that features phase-detect autofocus for speedy autofocus in every snap.
What to Love More
We’re sure you’re impressed with those features of the V5 but there is still more to this selfie-taking beast that you might want to know.
Hi-Fi audio chip. You can listen to premium sounding sound – one that sounds like your in the studio as your favorite artist performs that one song.
FunTouch OS 2.6. The newest iteration of Vivo’s operating system based on Android Marshmallow. It’s faster and snappier so you can perform tasks everyday in just a flash.
Smart Split 2.0. Wish you could split what’s happening in your screen so you can actually multitask? Smart Split exactly does that and does it intelligently. It’s part of the Fun Touch OS improvement and is definitely something to love about the V5.
The Perfect Gift
The Vivo V5 is definitely a wishlist-worthy item if you are looking to upgrade your smartphone and selfie game. Priced at 12,990, this mid-range device is a steal that won’t break the bank.
Vivo announces another addition to their growing lineup of great affordable smartphones in the Philippines with the Vivo Y55, an octa-core powered 5.2-inch smartphone that has great camera, jampacked with features, all in a unibody design.
When you think octa-core powered, affordable isn’t the next word that comes to mind. But that’s not the case with the Vivo Y55 – it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 alongside 2GB of RAM for outstanding performance on everyday tasks. It comes in 16GB model with expandable storage up to 128GB.
Not a problem with the Vivo Y55. Although the rear camera is rated at 8MP, photos taken can be scaled up to 32MP when you shoot in the Ultra HD Mode – how’s that for entry-level smartphones? The front-facing camera snaps 5MP photos and improves your selfies with the Smart Screen Flash Technology.
The Vivo Y55 is powered by a 2,650mAh battery (FYI, the iPhone 7 is at 1,960mAh) so taking great photos and better selfies all day won’t be a problem. The Y55 is also Vivo’s first smartphone to come with the new version of Funtouch OS 2.6 which brings improved features, such as Smart Split 2.0, Eye Protection Mode, and improved memory management, among others.
